Balthali is one of the short and interesting treks nearby Kathmandu valley recommended for those who are interested in experiencing rich rural culture, religion and lifestyle of the local people. The trail goes through terraced fields and forested ridges.

This is the perfect trek for family with children to spend a short holiday in Nepal.  Along the trail one can meet local people in their distinctive dresses, laden porters, caravans of sheep and goats. Life in rural Nepal is hard but simple; however one can observe many religious and social events that reflect the rich cultural heritage of the area.

The Balthali village (1,730m.) is standing on a plateau, just beyond Panauti above 40 Km away from Kathmandu. The village is situated at the junction of Roshi and Ladku rivers. This exceptional hamlet stands at an outstanding place of isolation and relaxation amidst a typical Nepali countryside with terraced rice fields and ochre thatched farm houses. One can see snowy peaks of Dorjee Lhakpa, Langtang and whole range of mountain in a clear and bright day on the northern horizon. Many of the sacred and ancient temples and monasteries such as Namo Buddha, Indreshwar Mahadev Temple, Brahmayani Temple are located along the trail.

After hiking for 3 hours through local villages and rice terraces we will arrive to Namo Buddha a scared Buddhist place where Lord Buddha is believed to have saved the life of a tiger dying from hunger, by giving him his flesh. From this holy place we walk another 3 hours to the Balthali village. Overnight in Resort

You can explore around a typical Buddhist village Danda Gaon where a Buddhist community inhabits. Similarly we can walk to Pada gaon from here you can have a majestic view of the whole Himalayan ranges to north and beautiful green forest to Mahabharat Range. After having a pleasant walk we return to a resort.

After breakfast we continue hike to the typical Newari village of Panauti . This traditional Newar settlement has a particularly rural character and a variety of farm products are offered for sale throughout the town. Panauti is popular for having a large number of fascinating temples. From Panauti we drive back to Kathmandu. Overnight at hotel in Kathmandu

After breakfast, relaxing or shopping and then our airport representative will drop you at Tribhuwan international airport for your onward journey
