Overview

Naya Kanga Peak (5844 meters) is one of the popular trekking routes located in the Langtang Region. This region is considered as the third best route of Nepal after Everest and Annapurna. Considered as a less technical peak, Naya Kanga can provide trekkers with the best introduction to peak climbing.

Naya Kanga (also known as Ganga Chulli) is a famous trekking peak in the Himalayas that borders Tibet. From the top, you can view the ranges and landforms of both Tibet and Nepal simultaneously. Naya Kanga Peak Climbing offers a spectacular view of many other peaks such as Langshisha Ri (6370 meters), Shisapangma (8014 meters), Lantang II (6571 meters), Langtang Lirung (7425 meters), Pemthang Kapro Ri (6830 meters), and Dorje Lakpa (6990 meters). This climb will take you through Tibetan and Tamang culture that influences most of the Langtang Region. Besides the unique culture, you will also experience varying landforms and vegetation.

Although Naya Kanga Peak Climbing is a short time adventure, it can be a challenging expedition due to steep ascents and rough trail. We recommend that you engage in strength and stamina training prior to booking this trip with us.

The climbing adventure of the Naya Kanga Peak begins at Syabru Bensi. You will walk on the famous trekking route of the Langtang that takes you to this region’s many other popular destinations. The trail passes alongside the Langtang river. You will walk through lush green forests and into the Tamang village, witnessing their unique culture and lifestyle. Beautiful stone houses, their prayer flags, and the view of Langtang peaks will keep you spellbound throughout the journey.

Continuing up to Lama Hotel, you will now part your way towards Kyanjin Gompa. For acclimatization, you will climb up to Chorkari Ri (5050 meters) and return to Kyanjin Gompa. Explore the monasteries of this place. You will receive your first introduction to Tibetan culture here. You will pass through Langtang glacier, where you might spot some rare animals, such as Snow Leopard, Red Panda, and many more.

Ascend to Naya Kanga Base Camp and then to High Camp on consecutive days. Finally, you will make your way up the icy rugged trail from the North-East ridge and summit Naya Kanga Peak. Standing at the height of 5844 meters, you will access the 360 degrees panorama of Langtang Range of both Tibet and Nepal.

After a successful summit, you will make your way down to Base Camp. Follow the path that leads back to Lama Hotel. Finally, after a trek to Syabru Bensi, you will take a jeep ride back to Kathmandu.

The Best Season for Naya Kanga Peak Climbing is during spring (March to May), Autumn (September to October). During these periods, the weather remains clear, thus confirming the mountain range and other sceneries. Moreover, the days are longer, so that you get enough time to complete the climb of the day.

Make sure that you are physically fit and mentally prepared for this adventure. The journey will take you through the remotest areas you can imagine. Plus, the risk of altitude sickness can be a challenge for your climb. However, we at Nepal Social Trek develop itinerary in a way that gives your body enough time to adjust to the changing environment. And our experienced guides are trained to handle emergencies during the climb. Climb with Nepal Social Trek to make Naya Kanga Peak climb a successful one.

Is Naya Kanga Peak Climb Right For You?

  • Weather conditions in the mountain region are unpredictable. The wind speed continuously keeps on changing, may invite harsh weather, and affect the itinerary in terms of the number of days. We may have to lengthen the package in case the weather becomes unsuitable during the climb. We suggest that you carefully make your plan and pick the most suitable time of the year for this climb. Although the standard itinerary is of 15 days, be ready for a few days more or less.
  • For a week, you will have to walk continuously on the trail for 5 to 7 hours. We will take periodic rests in between. However, you must be well prepared for such long hikes. Prepare yourself physically and mentally to take on the challenge of the climb. It is better that you engage in some exercises to increase your stamina and strength before you come to Nepal for the summit. It will be an advantage if you have prior experience of peak climbing.
  • Naya Kanga Peak stands at a height of 5844 meters. The climb is relatively easy as compared to other destinations in Nepal. Yet, the climb demands adequate stamina,  physical fitness, and endurance. Keep in check that your body is prepared for the quest.
  • You will have to spend seven nights over the 3000 meters. The thinning air may increase the risk of developing AMS (Acute Mountain Sickness) among the climbers. You may experience various symptoms such as shortness of breath, headache, or fatigue. When you are ascending, make sure to maintain your natural pace. Your guide will lead you according to your convenience. Walk slowly to let your body adjust to the changing air pressure.

Our guides are experienced and well trained to handle emergencies. They will also carry first aid, including some emergency medicines. If you feel any sort of difficulty, do not hesitate to tell your guide. In extreme cases where you need emergency evacuation from any location, we will arrange a helicopter to pick you and carry you to the nearest health center.

We recommend that you keep yourself fit and active to decrease the risk of fatality. Make sure that you are mentally and physically prepared for the journey. If you are unsure about your condition, you should seek medical advice.
