The Langtang Valley is a favorite trek for our guests,it is a rich alpine valley full of birds animals and rare plants. The valley forms part of the Central Nepal Himalaya, north of Kathmandu. The trek is considered by many people who have been there to be one of the most rewarding short treks in Nepal. It provides some wonderful mountains including the mighty Langtang Lyrung.
The area is less touristic due mainly to its remoteness. It offers a wilderness experience, fascinating people with a rich Tamang culture. There is time to relax into local settlements with a lot of wildlife and bird life along the way. Tamangis (the main ethnic group) are Tibetan in every aspect all but for twenty miles where the Tibetan border is found.Trekking into the high valley takes you almost to the base of the Nepal Himalaya. The trek provides “a high mountain feel” without it being too difficult. There is also an extensive glacier system to explore in the valley's upper reaches.
There is a lot of scope to vary treks in this region: one popular choice is to extend the nine day Langtang Valley hike for a further five days to the Sacred Lakes of Gosainkund (4300m) and the Helambu region. The Sacred Lakes are said to have been created by Lord Shiva when he jabbed his trisul (trident) into the ground to form the headwaters of the Trisuli River. Treks in Langtang and Helambu are combined by the crossing of the Laurebina Pass near Gosainkund. There are some beautiful forests in Helambu as well.
We, at Nepal Social Treks and Expedition, are deeply concerned about your safety and comfort and thus provide excellent transportation and accommodation throughout the trek. Additionally, we offer the experienced local guide to add that extra bit of authenticity to your journey.
