There are literally hundreds of easy trek routes in Nepal. Many of these are short, easy, spectacular and suitable for novice trekkers, children, families and even the elderly.

Shivapuri Hill Trek

This trek offers magnificent views of the Langtang ranges, serene, aesthetic environment, and a 360-degree view of the Kathmandu Valley. 

This trek takes you on a continuous uphill climb to the top of Shivapuri hill through dense forests. On the way, you will get a chance to witness the origins of the Bagmati River and the home of the famous Todke Baba at Bagdwar.

Shivapuri is popular for its watersheds and wildlife reserve. As it is the second-highest hill wrapping Kathmandu valley, you’re in for some majestic views of nature.

The trek starts from Sundarijal and winds up around the beautiful villages and stunning landscapes. You can also visit Shivapuri National Park, a lush forest rich in rhododendron, oaks and various species of flora and fauna.

You can return through the same trail or you can walk downhill to Sundarijal and drive back to Kathmandu. 

Ghandruk Village Trek

Ghandruk Village Trek offers a magnificent view of mountains in the Annapurna region. This short trek offers a charming view of the Himalayas, varying cultures, religions, the lifestyle of Gurungs, local cultural heritage, Gurung Museum, and interaction with the locals of the area.

Ghandruk Village trek starts from Pokhara city. Driving to Nayapul divide trails in Birethanti ACAP Checkpost with Ghorepani Poon Hill Trek, and the junction of popular trekking destination Annapurna base camp.

Ghandruk Village Trek is ideal for families, kids and also older people in the form of short trekking sites in Nepal. It is easy to trek in Ghandruk, compared to other destinations. It just takes a few uphill and downhill hikes through the bank of the Modi Khola.

Changunarayan-Nagarkot Trek

Nagarkot to Changunarayan Hike is a popular hiking trail in Kathmandu valley. 

En route, you will encounter settlements of ethnicities like Newars, Tamangs, and others. You can enjoy a memorable time at Changu Narayan and explore the temple, Newari architecture, and different historical monuments dating back to the 4th century BC. 

You can stay overnight at Changu Narayan and indulge in the daily activities of the locals. 

Nagarkot is a hill station that boasts of an overwhelming view of wonderful landscapes and monuments. Since it is very close to Kathmandu, it is easy to access and is a perfect getaway for novice trekkers and for families as well. 

Dhampus Village Trek

This is one of the short but classic trekking routes of Nepal. Dhampus isn’t only a viewpoint but it is also a picturesque village inhabited by the Gurung community. The trek gives you an opportunity to witness the culture, traditions, and lifestyle of the village. The hike to Dhampus hill is short and a rewarding trek. 

Walking through sparse villages, farm terraces, and forests, you can reach Dhampus hill after a few hours of walk from Pokhara. A close view of Annapurna and other mountains greets you on reaching Dhampus.

You can experience amazing sunsets on the Himalayas, and equally mesmerizing sunrise the next morning, a spectacle that you will treasure for a long time.

Ghorepani-Poon Hill Trek

Poon Hill trek is connected within the Annapurna region, with beautiful views of mountains and landscapes. It is a brilliant way to get out of your everyday hectic life.

This trekking spot is best known as the ‘sunrise and sunset view’ trek in Nepal. Ghorepani- Poon Hill Trek is probably the best way to embark on a journey that reflects rich diversity-heritage trek experience. It also offers superb mountain scenery and charming villages that trace back to the native folks of Gurung, Tamang, and Magar ethnicity.

The maximum elevation of this trek route is 3,210 meters. This means that there is a very low chance of altitude sickness. Any altitude sickness reported so far is zero, so it won’t be hard for you to travel. 

Everest View Trek

Royal Trek

This trail winds its way through the foothills of Annapurna north of the Pokhara valley. 

The trek route received its name after Prince Charles and his group of 90 walked the route in 1981. On top of this, the route was often used for trekking and recreation by the Nepali royal family. 

Although situated close to Pokhara, the Royal Trek is one of the most off-the-beaten-path treks in Nepal and really allows trekkers to escape the crowd and receive an authentic Nepali experience.

The Royal Trek presents some incredible mountain sceneries. You’ll be able to view stunning hillside rice terraces and the majestic Annapurna mountain range which includes Langtang Mountain and Machapuchhre (fishtail). 

You can stay at the tea houses along the route if you aren’t into camping. Just when you thought the trip would never end, the trek concludes at the beautiful Begnas Lake.

Chisapani- Nagarkot Trek

Chisapani- Nagarkot Trek is one of the best trekking destinations for novice trekkers and even children 

This trek offers destinations at different altitudes that are nearest to Kathmandu. The elevation of Chisapani (1,915 meters), Nagarkot (1,920 meters) and Dhulikhel (1,431 meters) are suitable for hikers of all ages, meaning they don’t need to worry about altitude sickness.

The Chisapani trekking can cultivate an unusual feeling of being near nature even when you are near the city of Kathmandu. The village units are delineated as the rural parts of Nepal and at the foremost, it offers you fear, inspiring stateliness, escape from chaotic city life and wonderful mountain views.

Ghalegaun Trek is a newly-opened trekking trail in the Annapurna Region. This trek is also popularly known as Ghale Gaun Homestay Trek.

It is an eco-cultural trek in the untouched village of Ghale Gaun 32 km from Pokhara. You will undergo an amazing experience, exploring the village and interacting with the indigenous people. Also, the praiseworthy hospitality of the locals keeps you content. 

In this trek, you will also get a chance to attend the cultural celebrations of the local villagers. And, the alluring views of Annapurna ranges, Ganesh Himal, Lamjung Himal, and Manaslu Himal is sure to make your journey worthwhile.

The trek starts from Besishahar, Lamjung. From there you walk uphill across the rhododendron forests and the pleasant chirpings of the birds. Get ready to experience a serene environment. 

Helambu Trek

Helambu Trek is one of the easiest trek routes in Kathmandu valley with aesthetically pleasing views.

Helambu region is chiefly inhabited by Hyolmo tribes and is rich in culture and traditions Also, the lush rhododendron and bamboo forests in the rustic surroundings make the place even more beautiful.

The marvellous waterfalls and the perennial rivers on the lap of majestic peaks make the place adventurous. The views of Tibetan borders and age-old monasteries in the village add wonder to your trek.

The trek starts from Sundarijal and passes through Chisapani, Kutumsang, Sermanthang towards the Helambu region. The trail passes through thick alpine forests and splendid mountain views. There are enough teahouses in the region that provide easy accommodation on the route.
