Our Working Team

Nepal Social Treks & expedition is one of the largest and most experienced tourism operators in Nepal, specializing in trekking & touring adventures in Nepal, Tibet and Bhutan.

Nepal Social first began when owners, Ram Barakoti and Basu Panday, met while completing their Masters in Business Studies at university. The company has been operating since 1999, and has built up a strong team with a large knowledge and experience base. As the company has been operating for so long, they are able to provide excellent services but at affordable prices.

Nepal Social’s mission is to provide professional, quality service along with great value to our clients. Our team takes pride in planning outstanding trips for individual requirements, and values each guest not only as a customer but also as part of the family.

Our company specializes in creating opportunities for people to discover the beauty of Nepal and its neighbours through trekking, touring and adventure excursions. We enable people to experience the stunning landscapes and become immersed in the rich culture of the different regions.

Ram Barakoti and Basu Panday are the founders and directors of Company. The company began in 1999 after the pair met at university, while completing their Masters of Business Studies. Ram handles the general administration, foreign relationships, human resources and partner contracts while Basu is a liscened trekking, touring and climbing guides with vast experience leading groups in the field. They are both passionate and knowledgeable about their country and culture.

Our most popular travel packages are the Everest Base Camp trek and the Annapurna Circuit trek. Both of these world famous treks enable people to travel to the heart of the Himalayas and witness some of the most breathtaking scenery imaginable. They also provide an amazing opportunity to experience and become immersed in the rich culture of the Sherpa people.

Ram Barakoti-Leader & founder of company
Mr.Ram handles the general administration of the company, as well as the company’s foreign relationships, human resources issues and partner contracts. Ram started his career in tourism from the travel and trekking field and has done several trekking training courses.

Basu Panday-Leader & founder of company
Mr Basu has been working in the trekking field since 1999. He has been a leading promoter and initiator of adventure trekking journeys in Nepal and has worked for the company since its conception. His knowledge of cultural and ethnic detail and diversity in Nepal makes him one of our most valuable and sought after local leaders. A long period of working in this field continuously helps us to organize the highest quality trips in Nepal.

Dil Gurung -Trekking Guide
Mr. Dil Gurung is one of the youngest guides in our company and has been with us since 2003. He has obtained the approved Government license in guiding and trekking and is well trained in a variety of different skills. He is a very popular guide and our clients who have trekked him in the high altitude regions have left valuable positive comments regarding his service..

Buddhi Lama - Trekking guide
Mr. Buddhi is an experienced trekking guide of this company. He has been in the trekking field since 1996, He has good command of English language

Binaya Panday-Trekking Guide
Mr. Binaya is one of our most qualified and experienced guides who has been working with us since 2003. Young, energetic and one of our most reliable leaders, he has a great deal of experience looking after and leading trekking and camping trips. He is adventure enthusiastic, always happy and well known in the Nepal Trekking community. He has good command in English.

Navaraj Bhantana- Trekking Guide
Mr Nava comes from the Gorkha district. He is a well trained, experience guide and likes to prepare delicious outdoor meals for the trekking & rafting trips. He has been working for us since 2002 and has much experience prior to this also.

KB Barakoti - Trekking Guide
Mr. KB has been working as a guide since 2005. He is well trained and experienced, always ready for fun and to help his guests.

Pasang Sherpa- Climbing & Mountaineering Guide

Pasang Sherpa is a very energetic Climber guide who is the permanent resident of Solukhumbu district. He has got 12 years experience in this field. He started his career in this field as a porter and kitchen boy. He got promotion as an assistant guide due to his dedication and hard work. He has got good English language fluency. Now he is 41 years old and shares his experience with the new comers. He has been successful to scale numerous highest mountain peaks of Nepal. He has got a license from Nepal Mountaineering Association (NMA) as climbing guide.

Our Supportes and Helper Team:
Our porters and helper in the Trekking and mountaineering have become quite accustomed with the Himalayan environment. They can easily adjust themselves with the environment available in the mountain region. Our porters are physically fit and strong and can carry your bags easily throughout the trek. Most of them speak reasonable English. Our supporters are insured, paid and of course armed with required equipments. Every two trekkers get one porter. If you are a sole trekker, there will be porter for each trekker. In the lodge trek, the maximum weight limit for a porter ranges between 25-30kg. Nevertheless, this limit doesn’t apply for other treks like camping and tented trek.

Trekking is simply travelling through the countryside, remote villages, hills, forests, valleys and riversides on foot. The trekkers used to use tents for their accommodation and to take a large number of staff to support their trek, which is still prevailing in the remote areas as the camping trekking, where few facilities are available for the self-supporting trekkers. However, the facilities have been increased, reducing the burdens for the trekkers in popular trekking routes now and are known as teahouse trekking. Trekking in Nepal offers you with unique and most interesting diversity within the distance of half an hour’s walking distance, which needs at least one days travel in other countries. There are very various ways of trekking on foot through different Himalayan hilly ranges of Nepal. While trekking in any ranges and routes, one should make a number of preparations as choosing companion, selecting the organizer company, other official and government permissions and others.
