Kalapathar Cho la Pass TrekkingThis trek is a huge opportunity for the adventurers and ambitious trekkers. This is a moderate graded trek that will take you to the Mt. Everest passing through the high Cho La pass at an elevation of 5420 m. This is also a great opportunity to trek to two famous peaks of GokyoRi (5340m.) and Kala Pattar (5554m.) and both of these peaks offers the view of Mt. Everest, Lhotse, Nuptse, Makalu and Cho Oyu like you have never seen before.This trek will take you to the Everest Base camp from where you can have an up-close look at the spectacular Khumbu Icefall. Even beginners and matures can take this trek but they need to be very fit and strong to accomplish this trek all the way. This trek is not advised to take during the winter and monsoon season because of the snow conditions at the high altitude Cho La Pass.

This trek is strenuous. Maximum elevation is (5,554m) (Kalapathar).

Kalapathar Trekking Itinerary in Details:

Day 01:Day 01:Today you will arrive at Kathmandu, TIA. We will receive you at the airport and transfer you to the hotel. In the evening you will be briefed about the trek, its difficulties and what to do and not do during the trek.

Day 02: Today we will fly from Kathmandu to the small town of Lukla in the Himalayas. This is about 40 minute’s flight and it not only takes us an amazingly high altitude of 2850m to Lukla, but also offers spectacular view of mountains and valleys underneath. After a quick breakfast in Lukla we will start trekking towards Phading through the beautiful settlements on Lukla to join the main trekking trail in CgauriKharka and finally following the river of DudhKoshi to reach Phading at an altitude of 2640m above the sea level. On route we will witness the typical Nepali terrace culture and slate roofed houses of that region. We will crash at the Phading Lodge for the night.

 Day 03: Today we will make a challenging hike from Phading to Namche Bazar alleviating from the height of 2640m to 3440m. We’ll start walking up along the west bank of DudhKosi River to a small village of Toktok. It is here we get to see a glimps of Thamserku peak (6 608 m). We will keep going to reach Benkar (2 710 m) where the cliffs above are draped with paintings of Buddhist deities. We will them cross the colorful suspension bridge to enter the Sagarmatha National Park at Monjo (2 840 m). After passing Jorse we’ll follow the riverbank, climbing through the pine forest and finally crossing the huge suspension bridge over the DudkKoshi River. After that we will trek 2 hours in the zigzag way through the dense forest to reach the Sherpa Capital of Namche Bazar. We will enjoy the evening at

The lively Namche Bazar and spend the night at the town. Day 04: Acclimatization day at NamcheBazzar. O/N at Lodge,

  Day 05: Today we will trek from Namche to Tengboche at the height of 3860m through the trail in winding smooth path with fantastic views of mountains like Mount Everest (8 848 m), Thamserku (6 618 m), AmaDablam (6 814 m) at the beginning and then follow the trail down to the river bank followed by the 2 hours of difficult climb to Tengboche. After the arrival at Tengboche one can attend the daily worshipping at the monastery of Tengboche, enjoy the evening at  Cafe Tengboche and the view point clicking pictures of  great mountains all round. As we walk in the trail through the rhododendron forests we get see rare species of musk deer and Himalayan ‘Tahr’ or mountain goat. On the way we can view some beautiful sceneries of Kantega mountain (6 783 m). Overnight stay at lodge Tengboche.

  Day 06:Today we will trek from Tengboche to Dingboche (4 410 m), which will take about 6-7hours of trekking through the slope covered with conifer and rhododendron forest finally reaching to the beautiful settlement Dingboche. On the way we will cross the suspension bridge over the white waters of Imja River, a snow white stupa with beautiful all seeing eyes in mirroring AmaDablam, take some pictures here and ascend on to the village of  Pangboche (3 860 m) and finally climb above the tree lines passing the big yak population in the green meadows before reaching the valley of Dingboche. We will stay at the Lodge Dingboche for the night.

 Day 07: We will take a day off at Dingboche for the better acclimatization. An optional trek to the remote village of ofChhukung  (4 730 m) and ChhukungRi (top) located at 5 550 m can be arranged. This place offers awe spinning views of Island Peak (6 189 m), Amphulapche (5 663 m), Baruntse Base Camp (5 400m) and the white ice lake of ImjaTsho.

  Day 08:Today we will ascend alleviate 150m from Dingboche, from where one can click great images of Tawachee (6 495 m) and Cholatse peak (6 440m).  We will then have a lunch at Dugla (4 620m) and follow the trail that takes us directly up to the gravely terminal moraine of the Khumbu glaciers in about one hour. The trails passes through the monuments built in honor of the lost climbers and Sherpa. Then the trail descends a little and follows the western side of the valley finally taking us to Lobuche. This trek will take about 4-5 hours. We will stay at lodge Lobuche at Lobuche.

  Day 09:Today’s trek is bit difficult and takes us through the steep ascent to GorakShep(5 160 m). Here we’ll have the first view of Mt. Nuptse, Kala Pathar and Mt Everest. At right there will be the magnificent Khumbu Glacier, the huge marching pile of snow through the mountains. We’ll reach GorakSheo by the lunch time, have lunch there and trek to Everest Base Camp in the afternoon. The whole trek will take about 6-7 hours and we will call it a day at a lodge in GorakShep, a village at the bottom of Khumbu Icefall.

 Day 10:Today will hike all the way from GorakShep to the very foot of the mighty Everest, the Everest Base camp. The whole trek will take about 6-7 hours, you will witness the great Khumbu Glacier of the Himalayas and finally we will trek back to GorakShep to call it a day at a lodge in GorakShep, a village at the bottom of Khumbu Icefall.

 Day 11: This day we will trek to Mt. Kala Pattar – the Black Rock at the altitude of 5545m. This is a place in the earth that can make you realize the beauty and purity of Mother Nature when you stand at the top of Mt. Kala Pattar and stare at the huge mountains of Pumori, Lobuche, Nuptse, Lhotse and Everest. After spending some time there we will return to GorakShep. From GorakShep we will hike to Zongla (4,710m), call it a day and spent the night at Zongla (4,710m).

 Day 12:Today we will trek to Thangna at the height of (4,500m) from Zongla (4,710m) via the pass of Cho La at the height of (5,420m). This pass at the magnificent height will offer you the view if the gorgeous mountains all around you and you will get to realize powerful for a moment seeing many other mountain standing below you. We all stay at Thangna for the night.

Day 13: Today we will trek to Gokyo at the height of (4,790m), enjoy the beauty of the pure and untouched places of the world, the tall mountains and never ending beauty of the Himalayas. This trek will take about 5-6 hours trekking. We will spend the night at the Lodge in Gokyo.


Day 14: This is the day we will conquer the Gokyo peak standing proudly at the height of 5410m above the sea-level. The trek to the Gokyo peak and back to the lodge will take about 7 hours of time. We will stay at the lodge at Gokyo for the night.

Day 15: Today weill descend to the mountain town of Dole at the height of 4210m and call it a day to spend the night at the lodge of Dole.

Day 16: Today we will trek to the Sherpa Capital of Namche Bazar from Dole, call it a day, enjoy the evening at Namche Bazar with honest and friendly Sherpa friends and stay at the lodge of Namche Bazar.

 Day 17:Today we will trek 6 hours from Namche to Lukla, through a strenuous path down the mountain. Descend from Namche to DudhKoshi impacts hard on Knees and the path then climbs up to Monjo, but from here the path runs easy to Benkar, Phakding and finally Lukla. We will crash at Lukha for the night.

Day 18: After an early morning breakfast in Lukha we will fly from Lukla to Kathmandu. You can either rest the whole day at your hotel or you can roam around in the streets of Kathmandu for fun.

Meals during Kala Patthar- Cho la Pass Trekking

All Meals on full board basis will be provided during the trek. Three meals (Nepali,Sherpa, Tibetan, Continental, Italian and Indian cuisine) a day will be provided from the teahouse/lodge. Each day dinner and breakfast are used to take in the same lodge you spend the night. Lunch will be taken on the way to destination. Reception, farewell dinner and breakfast will be provided during your stay in Kathmandu.
