Gokyo Cho La Pass trek is one of the most popular, adventurous and physically demanding trek in the Everest Region trek, via Sherpa Rick cultural trail. This trip starts with a spectacular flight to Lukla from Kathmandu, from where we’ll follow the Dudhkoshi River, through the Gokyo valley to Namche and finally to the very origin of the River, Gokyo Lake. The trail to Gokyo Cho La Pass trek gradually ascends through the beautiful forest of rhododendron, where trekkers can sometimes see the rare Himalayan animal species like musk deer. On the route we will see some of the small yak grazing settlements. Upon reaching the Gokyo Lake our real destiation stands before us, the GokyoPeak (5,480m). After Cho La pass we reach Dzongla, from where spectacular views of Ama Dablam and Taweche can be seen.
We reach another part of the Everest region after crossing the Cho La Pass, that is, Gorak Shep. This is our base and our place to stay for our attempt to conquer the Kala Patter peak (5,545m). Due to its geographical location, Mt. Everest can’t be seen from the Everest base camp but the Kala Pattar peak offers up-close and an extraordinary view of Mt. Everest along with many other peripheral mountains. On our return journey we’ll pass through Tengboche, which offers great view of Everest, Ama Dablam (6856m), Kantega (6809m), Kwangde (6194m), Nuptse (7879m), Lhotse (8511m) and many more mountains. From we will descend back to Lukla on a slow and relaxing pace.
