Arun Valley Trekking

This outstanding trek was the route Tim Macartney-Snape followed as he trekked from "Sea to Summit" en route to complete his second ascent of Everest. You will quickly understand this trek's appeal, there are few treks in Nepal that can match its diversity, as we trek from the tropical valleys to the alpine ridges and on to the rugged mountain terrain at the base of Everest. From Kathmandu we fly to Tumlingtar, a trading village in the Arun Valley. We follow trade routes across forested ridges and along cobbled trails through villages and to absorb the pace of the 20th century. After a week we cross an alpine ridge to reach the Dudh Khosi Valley, and the approach to Everest. We are now in the homeland of our Sherpa guides, and have time to enjoy their hospitality and famous barley beer and rice wine. Ascending the Khumbu Valley peaks including Nuptse (7879m) and Lhotse (8511m) tower above us before we reach the summit of Kala Pattar (5545m) a rocky outcrop opposite Everest (8848m). From the close quarters we can enjoy the absolute size and grandeur of the world's highest peak.
